1.Does Pagestro use AI?
No. Pagestro does not use AI to read, write, summarize or check your documents, and we never use your files to train any model.
The only part that uses trained models is OCR, which reads text from scans. It uses the open-source PaddleOCR or Tesseract recognizers, which run inside your browser. The model files download to your browser once, then your pages are read on your own device and are never sent to us.
On the Pro plan you can connect your own assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, through MCP. That assistant is run by its own company under its own terms, and it can only do what your API key allows. You can revoke the key at any time.
2.Files in the PDF and image tools
These tools run in your browser. Your files are not uploaded. Only helper files, such as the OCR models and fonts, are downloaded.
3.What we store
We store what you choose to save: contracts, invoices, email designs, QR codes and links, and signature requests.
Everything travels over HTTPS. Signing links are stored only as a one-way hash, plus an encrypted copy so we can resend them.
Saved documents can be opened only by you, your team on the Business plan, and, for a signature request, the signers through their own links.
4.How a signature request works
When you send, Pagestro freezes the text and records its SHA-256 fingerprint. Each signer gets a private link by email and doesn’t need an account.
Before signing, they tick a box that says they agree to sign electronically. Their name, email and signing date are filled in by our server.
With signing order (Pro and up), each person signs only after the one before. Links expire after 30 days. Signers can decline and give a reason.
5.What the audit trail records
The time (UTC) when the request is sent, when each signer first opens it, signs or declines, and when it is cancelled, expires or is completed.
For sending, opening, signing, declining and cancelling we also record the IP address and browser. At signing we record fingerprints of the document, the signature and the values entered.
Each entry includes the fingerprint of the one before, so if an entry is changed or removed, the check fails and the record shows Not verified.
IP addresses and browsers are kept as evidence and are only visible to Pagestro staff. Write to support@pagestro.com if you need them for a dispute.
6.Certificate and checking a document
When everyone has signed, each person gets an email with a link to the signed PDF. It ends with a certificate of completion: the envelope ID, sender, times, both fingerprints, each signer’s name, email, signature and signing time, the audit events and a QR code.
Anyone can check a document at pagestro.com/verify with its envelope ID.
7.Are Pagestro e-signatures valid?
Pagestro signatures are simple electronic signatures with an audit trail. In the US, the ESIGN Act and UETA say a signature or contract can’t be denied legal effect just because it is electronic. In the EU, eIDAS says an electronic signature can’t be denied legal effect or refused as evidence in court just because it is electronic. Many other countries have similar laws.
They are not advanced or qualified electronic signatures (AES or QES) and not certificate-based digital signatures. If a law, a regulator or the other party needs one of those, use a qualified trust service provider.
Some documents can’t be signed this way or need more steps. In the US, the ESIGN Act doesn’t cover:
- wills, codicils and testamentary trusts
- adoption, divorce and other family law matters
- court orders and court papers
- notices of utility shut-off, or of default, foreclosure or eviction on a main home
- cancellation of health or life insurance
- product recall notices
- papers that must go with hazardous materials
- some documents under the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC)
Anything that needs a notary or witnesses still needs them. Rules differ by country and state. This page isn’t legal advice. For important contracts, ask a lawyer.
8.What Pagestro doesn’t do
We don’t check ID documents or send one-time codes. A signer is identified by having the private link sent to their email. If you copy a signing link and send it yourself, the trail doesn’t show how it reached them.
Times come from our server clock, not an outside time-stamping service. The audit trail is kept in our own database, not with an outside service.
The signed PDF is not sealed with a digital certificate. Our record, which you can check at pagestro.com/verify, is the reference copy.
Signature requests and their audit trails are kept while the sender’s account exists. If the sender deletes the account, they are deleted too, so every signer should download and keep the signed PDF.
9.Signing in
You can sign in with a passkey and turn on two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app. When someone signs in from a new device, we ask you to approve it by email first.
10.Who runs Pagestro
Pagestro is run by MD Rakib Shekh, trading as Sigma Studio (not yet a registered company), in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Email: support@pagestro.com.
Payments are handled by Paddle, our merchant of record.
